230-250 distributors are known for wear. The shaft gets side to side play that messes with the point gap.
It's said the bushing at the top wears out...I have several housing here and none of then appear to have bushings.
So does the shaft run directly on the aluminum housing bore?

With a lathe and a couple of chucking reamers, it would be easy to install an upper bushing made of oilite bronze. If enough people are interested, I might be willing to tool up and produce a few bushed housings.

I was mistaken, one all the crud was removed there is a top bushing .
I had bought a Cardone supposedly rebuilt distributor for 35 bucks...The advance/cam and shaft look like something made in India and it was sticking in the full advance position... but the distributor housing had a bushing top and bottom like Hot Rod Lincoln is talking about. I fitted the old GM guts into the Cardone housing and it's all good as new now...
