I need a new gasket for the rear differential.
If I am reading things correctly, it looks like the differential cover gasket was used up into the 60s.

No one has anything in stock nearby and I don't want to order one only to have it be wrong.

It looks like I need FelPro gasket #RDS5088.

Can anyone confirm this part number or provide the correct one?

Thanks,
Justin

I have an extra Fel-Pro rear axle housing set. (only comes with one gasket). Part # RDS 4304 (says it replaces part #3731305). For my 55.2 3100 truck.

Says it fits:
Chevrolet 6 1935-1936.
Pontiac 6 1935-1936.
Chevrolet truck 1/2,3/4,1 ton 1937-1963.
GMC truck 1/2 ton 1939-1966.

Here's a picture.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Shaker,

I believe that is the gasket for the front of the rear housing. Does that sound correct?

I am looking for the gasket on the back side of the housing under the rear cover.

Most of us use RTV for that these days.

Justin, I used it as a cover gasket. I really don't know if it's for the pumpkin, or the rear cover.

Brian,

After comparing it to the picture of mine it does look correct.
Thanks for the help.

Brian,

Thank you for the picture. Amazing that even on the Fel-Pro site they don't list that part as being applicable to the '37 1/2T.

I appreciate the information immensely. Almost got Ol' Clyde back on the road!
