hey guys, does anybody know if GM stamped the production year on there frames, my Dad says that he was sure they did but I have a 53 and a 51 3100 truck and they are both stripped down to the frame and I cant find a year stamp anywhere.

Chevrolet frame numbering started in 1956. Some claim to have seen it on '55s.

What cletis said, '56 for sure. '55 2nd seems to be a little spotty, some are stamped, some aren't. On top of that, there's some '55 2nds that are stamped twice, like mine. Before '55 1rst, no frame stamps on Chevrolet for sure. I have heard of GMC stamping some years off and on, though.

GMC stamped frames until the late '40s.
