Look very closely at the clutch disc; most say "toward flywheel" or "flywheel side".

The springs go away from the flywheel. If they are installed towards the flywheel they will rub against the flywheel bolts. (I know this because the previous owner of my replacement engine installed the disk backwards. LOL.)

Did you look at the illustration that was posted????
The long part of the hub towards the front is another clue.

ok, I got it in right, but when I let the clutch out it makes a noise like something is hitting in there, I cant find any marks where it would hit....maybe if I backoff on the clutch adjustment??
Maybe shim out the starter? trying all options at this point
