Where can I find a gas tank like a 47' that I can mount under the bed on my 53 1/2 ton? I saw Chevyduty has a stainless steel tank for over $500 but since the mild steel tank lasted 50 years I think I could get by with another one as well. I also will need to find a good sending unit. Thanks, Zach

I'm still using my sealed, original, under-bed tank on my '48 so I don't know about replacements. I bought a 6-v sender but I think it was intended for the taller behind the seat tank. It had a longer arm and wouldn't read "Empty" properly so I bent the arm up. I was more interested in the empty reading than the full reading.

I should have shortened the arm a bit, instead. I then could have had accurate empty and full readings.

How about doing this on a 64? Does a 64 Suburban tank work in this application?

Thanks,

Hey Zach,

I got your e-mail and will get you the part you need to patch the filler hole as soon as I recieve your pics. As far as the gas tank goes, It does have one in place, but I dont know the condition. The truck was a junk yard find and has been sitting on the grouind for years. The tank has also had the cap off so the interior has been exposed as well. I am looking for some six hole wheels with the hub cap clips to get the frame off the ground and then I am going to see whats there. I plan on using the frame and whatever else I can save. Those tanks are bad about rusting on top where trash accumulates between the tank and the bed floor. I had to fabricate a tank top on my 48 driver. I will let you know when I get to that point. Ralph
