I am just getting startedon a restroration of a 65 chevy truck . I need to know if there are books or some where I can find out how to do things like replace floor boards and rocker panels

From one beginner to another. I just determined the panels that needed to be replaced toe board and floor board, lots of parts houses stock them. I purchased the one piece left and right toe/floor board patch panels. I pulled the cab from the frame and looked very carefully at how they were originally spot welded in place cut those out measured very carefully and made the cuts being very sure not to cut to much, hard to stretch the panels together if you cut to much off. Cleaned the metal and fit the new panels in place cuting out more material if needed. Then clamped the panels in place, checked the fit and tach welded with a mig. I spent a lot of time planning on my approach before I started to work. while my welding isn't real pretty I was able to use a grinding wheel to smooth things out pretty well. I'll be able to use a good filler to complete the job prior to paint. good luck. those same parts houses LMC, ChevyDuty, Chevys of the forties, etc sell assembley manuals, how to restore books etc. I have them all and they've sure helped me.

If you are like me, ya just like old trucks but don't earn your living fixing em. I had to buy a book..or two. I bought "How to restore your Chevy Pickup". It is pretty basic, but does help you develop a plan. The Filling Station even sells it in their parts catalog.
