Truck: 1937 1/2T
Current Set-up: Engine: '51 216, bell housing has mount for master cylinder and pedals but missing hole for left bracket for the stomp starter. Not sure what transmission in is there.

New Engine: '59 235

I have read the tech tip and still have a few questions.

It appears that I will need to change or modify the front mount plate, correct?

If I understand correctly, if I use the '59 flywheel, clutch and bellhousing - I will have to solve the mounting problem for the master cylinder / pedal bracket. Does that sound correct? Any other problems with using the newer items?

It also appears that I will have to modify or change the water pump pulley, correct?

Other than new motor mounts and using the 216 inlet for the coolant, am I missing anything else?

Thanks for your time,
Justin

Using a 1938-47 truck bellhousing will allow you to use the original trans and clutch/brake mount. Using a later bellhousing opens a can of worms.
Timing plate will most likely need drilling for front mount.
Water pump will need attention.

Alot of these issues are outlined in my project article. The water pump part of this will be outlined soon. Keep the old bell housing, flywheel, and starter. The water pump will be done right so you have your fan centered on the radiator as it was with the 216. Thanks to Dave!

1937 was the last year to use a carbon throwout bearing. The flywheel, starter, clutch, pressure plate, and even the bellhousing will not work. Chev changed the position of the pivot for the clutch fork with the new ball bearing design starting in 1938.
