While my 61 Apache was in the body shop having a 63 hood replaced with the correct 60-61 hood and the 63 grill replaced with the correct '61 grill, the shop called me and said they could not put the 61 grill on because the radiator support and grill mount brackets wouldn't take the 61 grill. Also, they said that the 61 hood would not latch closed because the latch mechanism would not line up because of the different mount above the grill. I always thought that these hoods could just be swapped on straight across. Now I'm having to secure the frontend of the hood with bungee straps to I get this thing figured out. Any input or ideas???

Jolly's 6066 GMC site has photos of the different latches and specifics of the latches.

The base portion of the latch works on all 60-66 hoods, although sometimes the pin needs to be adjusted longer or shorter. The problem is you need the upper latch that originally came with which ever style hood you are using. On the 60-61 the latch pulls forward from the gap under the center. The 62-66 latch pulls from the drivers side in the air intake opening.
