I recently had a 1948 3800 Flat-Bed donated to me by my aunt and uncle (originally thought it was a 4100 so this was initially in the big bolt forum as well). It is definitely a project but not in terrible shape overall. Where is a good place to find parts for these bigger trucks (right now I know I need a back window, tail lights, and a brake master cylinder)? I have used LMC Truck for my F-100 but that's the only one I have much experience with that isn't Ford specific. How compatible are things from smaller trucks (3/4-ton, etc.)?

Welcome to the site. Good looking truck, I have used several different online store to purchase parts for my 1-ton. Chevy's of the 40's is a good site as well as LMC and Classic Parts just to name a few. (http://www.stovebolt.com/links/parts.html) I have found that the 1-tons and up sometimes takes more searching across several sites to find the parts your looking for unlike the lighter trucks. There is a wealth of knowledge on this site so if you run into problem or have a question just fire away. As a fellow Newbie I have found the search block to the left of this page most valuable. Tech Tips is another place I spend a lot of my time ( http://www.stovebolt.com/techtips/). Just take a look around and enjoy.

That is a nice truck you have there. The one thing that is hard to find for the 1 Tons is the brake drums. All the sheet metal is the same as the 1/2 Ton.

Very nice. welcome to the one ton dual rear wheel club! I had good luck for master cylinder and wheel cylinder rebuild kits at my local carquest. Napa has been good too. As mentioned before, the rest are all the same as the 1/2 tons, so all cab sheetmetal and components will interchange. Taillights are up to you. Could go with a universal replacement, or find some old ones on eBay.

Hey that's a great looking truck. I swear I have the next off the assembly line. Almost the exact truck in 47, The messages above about solve your parts dilemma. NAPA has been a good source for me as well as Jim Carter's. Those tires are another heartache matter. I've only found them at Coker and STA tire of Indiana PA. STA has a decent website that lists the 700x18 tires but they can't ever tell you if they are in stock.

Ditto on those rear brake drums. Don't cut them or let them out of your site. Wheel studs are lik hens teeth too. Best - Joe

Hey Aaron

I am knee deep in a rebuild that is a twin to yours...mine was the same color but mother nature burned most of the green paint off of it...mine was dual wheel also. I am converting mine back to a large 9 foot long pickup truck...

Jim Carter truck is a good source for a lot of the parts you might be needing.

There are even disc brake kits available now if you so desire to swap them out...(not from Jim Carter yet)

Welcome from the land of salt and rust....(upstate NY)..

Hi Aaron, I think it's real easy to confuse the two (4100 3800). I say that because that is the reason this is my first post in the toner forum. I found on my newly acquired truck that the 10 lug wheels were missing two wholes in the wheels dang your truck looks like it is in great shape.
