On my front turn signals, the right one works great but the left one starts to light up but takes about 2 seconds before it will flash. I have checked all the wires and grounds on both and they all good,put in new flasher solinod still does the same. Could it be the contact in the flasher unit on the column or ??? 53 3100 root

Hy root, is the left rear turn signal working? A lot of the older flashers are load reactive and require multiple bulbs to flash properly, hope that helps.

Yes, the rear one works, it LED but it flashes at the same time as the front. I have tried using a flasher solenoid for LED's, then no flashers at all. 53 3100 root

Do you have LED bulbs's on all four corners? I just want to make sure we are comparing apples to apples. If one side has LED and the other dosen't there will be a different flash rate due to different amp load at the flasher.

Root, I'm guessing that you have switched to a 12 volt system, since your using LED's? I still operate with a 6 volt system and used a step up transformer for the signals and just the rear running lights. I also use an incondensent bulb for the front fender lamps. Are your rear turn signals stand alone or are they incorporated with the brake lights? Did you try using an electronic flasher? They are not load dependent to operate properly. 12V The front are incandescent and the rear are LED's and yes they are tied into the brake lights. Yes, I have tried electronic flasher and then nothing works at all and I grounded the flasher, so reinstalled the old flasher and everything works except the left flasher as stated above. I also have a separate ground on the front turn lights. Don't know what else is needed. 53 3100 root

Is the bulb in the left turn signal exactly the same as the one on the right? Have you tried replacing them even if it is? Do you have seperate flashers for the left and right hand side? if so are they identical or have you swapped with each other to see if the problem follows the flasher? If you suspect the column unit change the wire so the left is coming from the RH wire and the right is coming from the LH wire. If it's the column unit the problem will now be on the RH bulb. If not then the column unit is fine.

In past rewires and transition to LED bulbs had almost always shown issues with a mechanical flasher. The solution was always adding a load resistor in parallel to the LED. This brought the current up to expected levels.

I have not looked lately but few years back you would find them next to the LED bulbs in the auto parts store.

I'm going to agree with bztguy, that should narrow down the source of the problem.

Also, I switched my rear lights from incandescent to LEDs and left the fronts incandescent and have had no problems. in fact, the front turn signals seem to be a bit brighter. I changed the rear lights and nothing else.
