My outlet no longer functions. I need to take it out, clean the rust out, and determine if I can make it functional or need to replace it.

However, I cannot figure out how it might come out of the dash. There doesn't seem to be a nut on the back side, but there seems interference in moving either direction.

Any suggestions?

Most of those the outer shell screws off. Hold the front from spinning and reach under and twist off the back.

Get an I-phone??? Na, can't afford the monthly bills, rather
buy a few more sheets of plasterboard for the shop. Priorities you know!

The mount I use most the time is a small tripod. Less than 10 dollars on amazon. The holder is the belt clip for the phone that I put a 1/4 20 coupling nut and screw on. Cut open a window for the lens with a Dreme tooll

Most the movies in my signature line I used a video program call Magix on the computer.

That video sure is helpful. I'll admit a text explanation would have only gotten me halfway there. Mine is so rusted together, that without knowing which piece is on which half, and where the threaded section is, I would have just pulled and twisted to no avail. I can pause the video and look at exactly how the sections come apart.

Now I've got mine soaking with some penetrating lubricant for another go at separating them shortly.

That Demo is a new, reproduction

Where from? I may need to be acquiring one. I don't think mine is coming apart with out destruction. I can't get a successful purchase on the front trim to get the right amount of torque on the back.

What year?

6v or 12v?

You can get lighter sockets at about any auto parts house.

1957 Chevrolet truck?

Having parted a lot of AD's one that can't or won't come apart is common as the behind the dash area seems very prone to condensation and drainage issues. I am out of the country right now but returning soon, if you send me a PM I think I have 6-7 originals around the work bench and I will send you one.

He didn't specify a year. The video showed what looks to be a plain old universal socket. I've put tons of them in over the years and they all looked & installed like that one. I didn't know a '57 truck would be any different. Is it? Does it work differently?

As far as usefulness of the lighter, you can get inserts for it that have USB for charging your phone. (if its 12v)

The TF trucks (55-59) are just like the video, the back shell screws on to the front half...nothing unique about them.

Local FLAPS will have them. The whole thing can be had for a few dollars. Here is just a sample of what you can get.

The "handle" bit screws on and off. So you can keep the stock looking one if you like.
