The shop manual makes mention of an "oil cup" on the starter. Any ideas as to where this oil cup might be? I found the one located on the generator with no problem.

Those older starter had an "oil cup" (like the one/ones) on the generator. My guess is that it was at the rear end, but it has been too long since I saw one (there is no oil cup on my 1954 6v starters).

Some of the cast iron end plates used on those starters had no bushing in them. The armature shaft ran in a machined hole and you had an oil wick and metal oiler cap to oil the wick. They eventually got away from this and put bushings in all of them and did away with the oiler.
