I just tried installing the interior sun visor I received from Chevy Duty. Things went in okay but the visor is so loose that I just flops down. Does anyone have any tricks to tightening these things so they stay in one place? This is in a 55 1st series truck. Thanks.

where is it loose? 1st thought is if it is loose on the shaft, try squezzing bushing or slightly bending shaft. If it is loose where it mounts to roof frame...well I got nothin for ya there.

Steve, my original visor was rusted solid, wouldn't move at all. I pulled it apart and cleaned it up, but when I got it back together it wouldn't stay put. One extreme to the next. :rolleyes:

My solution was to "adjust" the tension of each of the metal loops around the shaft with channel locks. It worked; but the edge of the loops grab the shaft, making it a little hard to pull the visor down. It flips up much easier because of the direction of the metal loops. Once in a while I shoot some silicone lube down the shaft to compensate for my excessive tension adjustment.

If you've already got padding and upholstery on the visor, you may still be able to crimp the loops. Just wrap a rag around the visor and gently bite the edge with flat-jaw pliers.

If its loose on the shaft, bow the shaft slightly.

All very good suggestions, I'll give some of them a try this afternoon. Bowing the shaft seems like the easiest solution. Thanks!

If you bend the shaft, you will end up with a "tight spot" at some point in the rotation, and it will still flop around on either side of that spot.
