Tank is empty, when I plug in the gauge cluster, the gauge goes way past full, like it's getting full 12v all the time. Tried a gauge from a spare cluster that I have, and the same thing. What haven't I checked?

With switch on I have 12v to the left side of the gauge. I didn't have my multimeter handy, but I put my test light on the sender terminal at the tank, and it lights dimly.

| | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy Pakrat48, try removing the wire from the sending terminal of the gauge and with a jumper wire touch a known good ground for a few seconds and see how it affects the gauge reading. The gauge operates by varying the strength of two magnetic fields in the gauge, at the moment it would appear that only one field is energized in your gauge. It could be that you have a bad ground or open circuit to your fuel tank sending unit, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 364 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 364 | I'll try that 3B, the truck sat for quite a while, I'm gonna pull the sending unit out of the tank today. I think I might get a new printed circuit board for the gauge cluster. The old one seems a little brittle.
