Look here, five pages of good reading. Also if you don't mind a very close rattle can paint, try Rust-oleum's Dark Bronze Metallic (#7272), I used it in the cab of my '53, check my picture link.

I am also looking for the l953 Chevrolet interior color. Have you received an answer yet. If so , would you please share it with me. My paint company requested the GM paint code which I do not have. Someone sent me a PPG code of 33210 as the original champagne color of this truck. Thanks

As like twotone, I also went with the dark bronze metallic and love it.

The Dupont interior color code for 1953 cabs is shown on this page.

The Dupont and PPG codes are also shown in the Stovebolt.com 47-55 Colors Tech Tip (look at the note, #13)

Supposedly, there were at two or three interior color names between 1947-1953.

You can post that again, Denny (and, you will most likely have to do so.)

PPG 27467 Graphite Brown Metallic is the correct color for all 47-53 standard cabs. If I am wrong, you will soon know. smile

That is correct (at least for 1953, that is what is shown in the Tech Tip), Deve

Have you bought that paint and check it compared to your dash?

I have not. So please do not take my advice as the Gospel of all! However, lots of other bolters have used it and are happy.. that being said.. in all honesty, I am looking for the correct answer as much as you are Tim. Paint is expensive, and when I purchase a few hundred dollars of paint, I SPRAY it.. so I am concerned. I am about 6-8 months away from that step. I only paint after all the insects are dormant and I can expect my paint booth/garage to be somewhat clean enough and the temp is stable enough to spray. I need all the help I can get!

Follow up on interior paint for l953 (3100) chevy pickup deluxe. Someone sent me some information indicating that PPG 33210 (Champagne) was the correct color and that Rust-oleum (spray Can) 7272 Dark Bronze metallic would also work. Can someone provide the correct formula. This person also indicated that there would be a plate on the firewall that would provide the exterior and interior paint colors but no such plate is on my pickup and I have owned it since l953 and know it could not have been removed. Is there a GM code available. HELP please

I have checked the charts from two tone and found them hard to decipher. The PPG Color Library has a new number 1-800-647-6050. They could not help me on the l953 interior. Howwever, when I pulled up a paint chart on my computer, it listed the following for l953 chevy pickup interior.
Sheen Grey Poly (PPG)31104
Sheen Grey Metallic (Dupont) 202-81407
This site indicated that this was the color on all 1953 pickup interiors except the suburban. Hope this will be of some help and if anyone can confirm or offer better advise, Thanks

Just to clarify for all, there are no firewall plates on any of the AD Series spelling out color codes. The only information plate on these trucks from the factory is the one seen here.

7272 may not work for sheen grey poly or sheen grey metallic
I believe it's more of a match for medium tan or dark tan from the chart on the tech tip

twotone, did you use clear coat over the Rusto 7272 on the dash? Mine is not this shiny. Steve
