Hello All,

Has anyone found or made different colored lenses for their cluster indicators and high beams? I realize I can pull out the lens and just run the color light I want. I would rather my application look and feel as if GM did it back in the day.

Bingo chips are the same size 22mm-7/8" but there is not enough "meat" there to melt it to fit around the tube.

Not sure what you want to do? Change colors? fix faded colors? Replace original with original style? Don't know what "cluster indicator" means? There is High beam indicator, turn Sig indicator and gauge lighting.
Assuming you want to fix original, they are available, the cardboard light tube and the green lens. You can use photographers "Gel" also. Any camera shop.

Thanks Bartamos,

Do you know if photographer's gel is made of?
Do you think it will easily melt on a form?

If I can get it in my head what you are doing/what you what to accomplish, I may be able to help. I have had plenty of TF trucks. Please help by explaining the quoted remarks. I'm not as sharp as I once was but as sharp once as I ever was.

Hey Bartamos,

I appreciate your help, I want to replace these things with blue or amber ones:

http://www.classicparts.com/1955-59...Lens-pr/productinfo/24-612/#.VULnapVFCM8

Since they don't make them in blue or amber, I am looking for something similar that will look stock. If I cant buy something off the shelf I don't mind making it.

I am modifying a blue lego lighsaber for the high beams since it is a perfect fit and they don't make replacements.

Just some quick thoughts is all I have:

1.You can cut the GEL into a diameter that will fit down inside the tube. It is a material like mylar sort of. A thin sheet stock of colored "plastic".
2. If you find something that fits you can paint it with amber light bulb paint.
3.You can drill out the middle of one of those green caps in your link, leave a lip, and glue gel or equivalent down inside on the lip. That way it fits the tube.

I noticed a nicely colored plastic water bottle while out doing errands. Since I already have the bottle I gave it a try.

I cut the bottle, chucked an old chisel. I took a socket large enough to fit around the chisel top. I heated the chisel with a torch. After about 10 seconds of heating I put the plastic on top of the flat side of the chisel. Pushed down on the plastic with the socket to form around the head of the chisel.

Though the prototype is not perfect it is a step in the right direction. I need to improve my buck system to make perfect ones.

Note that there was no contact with the plastic and the torch.
