on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2012 Posts: 574 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2012 Posts: 574 | Today I recieved my very first set of plaid valve covers for my v6!! they really do dress up the engine bay and seem to contrast against the light blue paint on the truck very well. Anyway, had to let everyone know Indy

One would think that since 1963, and nearby years, are so "new" that SOMEONE would have the correct, definitive, answer! | | | | | Joined: May 2012 Posts: 574 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2012 Posts: 574 | I've seen a couple sets of these in person, and there was a nice original GMC suburban at the Stovebolt Reunion a few years back. One would think that since 1963, and nearby years, are so "new" that SOMEONE would have the correct, definitive, answer! and that is what makes them so neat to me, stories that nobody really can confirm or deny, and the fact that as these things get older, the more they will be shrouded in mystery and will one day be all but a lost legend that most will not know about. I'm sure there is a specific reason they used plaid on some covers for one year.

He replied that he was a GMC expert and there was no such thing. I sent him a link to 6066GMC website and he replied = "oh". GM Heritage Center - as suggested above, try contacting them. My experience is that they know what they have in their library, but they are not broadly knowledgeable "historians" (that would be a lot to expect when dealing with all GM vehicles). | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 899 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 899 | I've seen those kind of valve covers before also. But it's been a long, long, long, time ago.
