I just picked up 51 2 ton with the long bed rails on it. The bed itself and frame is long gone, I suspect it had a tilt bed as I do not see any Mount points for the brackets I have seen other 2 Ton flat beds use to mount the wood rails for the bed. I am new to this and am looking for suggestions on how to go about replacing it. I would like to go with the Stake Bed look, Thanks

Phil, welcome to the bolt! I have a couple ideas for you and I am sure others will chime in. My boy lives in Eugene so I get up that way fairly often. As I travel up through Utah, Idaho and Oregon I see quite a few trucks. The point is see if you can find a donor truck with a bed in surrounding areas. I have owned several 2-tons many you can see here:

I parted them in place (or cut them in half) so I would not have to take the beds or axles home! 1-1/2-ton and 2-ton trucks often languish because most people cannot haul them. Also you can see if a local trailer or replacement bed supplier has one or could fab you one, $$$. Last idea if you can weld or have a buddy who does buy the steel and lumber and craft your own. They are fairly simple from a construction standpoint. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Brad,

Thanks for the input. I have heard there is a guy out in Boring Oregon that has a number of 2 Ton donor trucks sitting on his property. I need to go out there and check it out. But I wondered how in the world would I bring it home. I have a buddy with a flat bed, but how do you lift the thing onto it. I have to imagine that it is heavy. Especially since this is the long bed.

I have also considered building one, or having it built, I can weld, but I am no pro. My issue there is I do not seem to be able to find any documentation on the size shape and general specs. But I am just starting my search.

Got to the Big Bolt forum here and post a request for pictures, weight and measurements of Bolters beds, I bet you will get some good information to help with your decision making.

Have about 600 filmstrips, some worthy of scanning/converting for posting. There are about 100 Chevrolet ones up on the Flikr I think? More to come when I get the time.

It is on hear somewhere but last I checked it did not work right. The one here below my signature takes you to the Photostream where you can click on all the albums, each filmstrip is set up as it's own album.
