I missed out on a nice original grille about 10 years ago.. I have always regretted it. I continued to look for one. No luck. Oh well, nothing wrong with a repo. About a week ago, I woke up in the middle of the night. Couldn't get back to sleep. So as usually, got on the computer. Haven't searched for a grill for years, but it popped in my head to give it a try. Scored this with "buy it now" and free shipping. What I liked it that it was from Nevada.. dry air. So anyway, here it is:

Grille 1

Grille 2

Grille 3

Grille 4

Grille 5

They mailed it tonight:

It's in the mail!!

I have never seen one so finer! smile

Let us know when you get it if it's as advertised. How does an
original grill compare to the reproduction grills as far as value?

I could have bought a repo grille for the same price, but the look isn't quite right, to me anyway. A repo grille looks too obvious IMO. I paid 450.00 including shipping for this one. The seller spent over half that amount shipping it UPS from Nevada to Florida. He used some plywood to bolt it to. I told him that if I get the grill in good condition, I would help a little on the shipping. He said I was not obligated to do so, but he would appreciate it. As far as I know from my experience of searching, original grills in this condition are few and far between. The auction ended two weeks ago and he is just sending it. I thought he was scamming me, as he always had some excuse when I talked to him, broken tooth, no internet, ex-wife problems, no money etc.. I was really patient with him, because I really like the looks of it. I hope it is the same one in the picture that I am getting..

Wow, can't beat that for that nice of an original grill. Like to
know if it's SS or chrome. Hard to believe there is an original
grill around still in that nice of a condition. The back looks
as good as the front, no rust, no discoloration, not even any
dust or dirt.
Hope it isn't a scam, keep us upgraded will ya.

Thanks

I will update this thread when it arrives next week. I tried to track it UPS and I realized the number if for Federal Express. It's definitely in transit. He also said he was sending me a nice original mirror or some other part for being so patient.

Nice catch, might fit better than the reproductions? Here is another that survived the decades, just a primed to be painted version so you never know what could pop-up!

Freebird when you get your grill go to the Grocery Store and get some Crest Tooth paste. The old style, just white paste. A good soft cotton cloth (old cloth diapers work really well - just make sure they are clean first) and buff that thing up. You will be amazed at how nice tooth paste works as a Chrome polish! Looks like a nice score.

Freebird, don't tell us when you finally receive your grille. I'm already sick to my stomach, green with envy.

I just checked the tracking. It's in Orlando. Won't be long!

You know that I will keep everyone updated, good or bad! smile

I just got my Millermatic 211 shipped in today, but to be honest with you, I am more excited about the grille.

Outstanding Chuck, really a great catch, thought for a while
that you were gonna get stiffed it took so long to get it.
I ordered parts from Summit Racing last week Monday morning

You think my grille is nice?

I was wondering where this grille came from.. why would someone remove it ? Maybe someone parting out what would probably be a nice rust free truck?

I talked to the seller who told me it was on his truck and that he found an unused chrome NOS grille still in the original package for 800.00 and bought it! I told him that I would have loved to see some pictures of it in the box, but he didn't have any. He did send me a picture of the new grille on his truck though:

Troy's Grille

I think I would rather have the one I bought from him though. His is just too nice and wouldn't match the rest of my truck. Also it would be mistaken for a reproduction, as it looks too good.

Also I would probably go insane if it ever got damaged.. Yep.. too nice for my truck. nono
