Assuming the mail man brings me them,i'll be fitting new urethane ball joint covers to replace the cheap R.O.C. rubbers that lasted all of 7 months....
Like Dusty i'll also be repairing some damage caused by our roads here too, although thankfully earthquakes here are a rarity.
It's the heavily salted,pot-holed roads (aka farm tracks) here that do the damage.

I have been pretty busy with The Good Humor truck.Just pickup the radiator and installed it.Had the radiator shop weld the two support brackets to hold on the pusher fan.I prefer having additional help on keeping the heat down on the radiator in this desert heat.
You got it Jim, I`m not looking forward being in the heat, in my white good humor suit. But will enjoy showing the truck off and posing for pictures and handing out icecream bars.
Replaced the leaking radiator with a new aluminum 3 row from Victory Radiators. Fit like it should. New hoses and a new thermostat housing and a 190 thermostat topped it all off.

I been looking for an 848 cyl head to go on my 261 short block. Found a deal on a complete 235 engine on Craigslist. Pulled the head today and it looks good but worn. Next step is find a machine shop to take the head and get it checked out and machined.
got 305D running today and started prepping truck ('69) for front clip removal and engine swap on Saturday.

New clutch kit just installed, ground flywheel surface, and replaced the oil pan gaskets, installed a "new" dust cover where there was none. Great road test, just might have reached 55mph, gotta fix that bouncing speedo...... I'm enjoying this more than a person should.

Drove my model a today ( I guess that don't count)pulled front motor mount out of my '51 chevy pickup. When it was installed they didn't drill the holes in the proper place & 3" apart. Looks like the engine is crooked.
After 3 1/2 years it came back to life today. Electric no sparks, all new, engine back running, runs ruff and smokes a lot but everything looks good. Now the doors can go on and so can the front end. 53 3100

Nice! What is the history of the engine? Why is it smoking? I know that you're pumped (I would be too). But I would want to make sure that the engine didn't have to come back out before I put the front back on (lots of work). Carl

Finally got the nerve to tackle the bed disassembly on my 55.2 3100. It was put together well. I hated to cut the factory "optional" welds near the tailgate hinge, but I had to.

Working on the 261 truck engine this weekend and it is all together. Waiting on some wires and a couple other small things from Rock Auto and we'll be firing that baby up maybe next weekend....or maybe the week after.
Finally got the engine in the 54 started last night! Small oil leak at the balancer- I don't think it is driven far enough on- so I'll address that tonight- for now I'm enjoying the fact that it is running again!

Ran all new NiCopp brake lines on the truck today! Man those are easy to bend without kinks! Have to bench b;need the MC and then bleed the rest of the lines next!!
First start up on the 55 235 engine in the Good Humor truck running good. No leaks, idles very good. I was surprised got the timing right after I used a electric drill to prime up the oil into the rockers. All the gauges work great. All the lights that are hookup are working great. The isolater battery controller is working real good, I haven't yet tried the inverter.Right now I`m using the old exhaust system slight leak from the pipe.Contacted Waldron Exhaust talk to ruth, got the imformation for the new exhaust purchase for next month.

Last night we removed the radiator, and support to get at the harmonic balancer- it was leaking at the timing cover seal- I didn't drive it on far enough- after about 40 minutes in a 280 degree oven it slid right on! reassembled and started it up- no more leak- thank goodness! Now I can get the front end reassembled and start working on electric. Another great night in the garage!

Got my 55.2 doors disassembled; I hope the vent side window assembly can be replaced because mine's missing a few inches of metal. Some pictures of all the parts. First door took 45 minutes to take apart; the second door about the same because of a bound-up window regulator spring.
My Grandson came by last night. He had decided to dig out my truck for me. I parked it alongside the house near the back yard covered with a tarp. Being in Southern maine it was quite buried. He got it all dug free and took the tarp off and brought my battery into the shop for charging(and warming up). This morning I put the battery back in and checked fluids. One good pump, choke, turn on key and crank---Started up first time. After warming everything up I drove it out of the hole it settled into and took it for a short drive. Whoo-hoo! I'm back on the road again for another year. Next winter I'm either driving it all season or putting it in a shelter of sorts. No more tarps.----Jack
My '46 1/2 ton got hit-and-run in a restaurant parking lot last October. Caught the guy thanks to some kind witnesses who came forward with the license plate. Damage not too bad, but front bumper tweaked and chrome flaking off at the bent part. Bumper origianally rechromed in 1990.
His insurance company settled in early January and I sent the bumper for straightening and rechroming. Told the shop owner "No rush - I want it right, not right now. Take your time." Got it back today:
Even as an A.D. owner I have to concede that's the best grill ever fitted to a commercial vehicle. Period!!

Finally getting round to installing my new lower ball joint boots, the previous ones lasted all of 8 months. Made in ROC,go figure!
Trying urethane ones this time as I've already fitted them to the track rod ends with no further issues. I'm going to have to get steering rack mount bushes too as they don't look too healthy either.

I have to work on straightening the front bumper on the '72 c-50 today, yesterday I was about to leave the yard with it when I noticed I forgot my lunch box in the barn, and proceeded to smash into the barn door with the truck, (no brakes)I forgot to check the master cylinder, after a long winter's nap. Could have been worse. Ted.
I'm kind of new to this forum, so not sure if you will even see this since original post was in 2011, but here goes...
Have a question about the rain deflectors on the doors. Installed DS deflector, and there is a gap that is from 1/16 to 3/16" wide. Factory manual says to apply 1/16 bead sealing compound to the gap, but gap seems to big to me. Your post says several other bolters helped you with some details. Can you send me a link to that discussion? Thanks for any help you can provide!
PS: I have pics, but don't see how to link them to this post!
