Want laminated, not the old stuff, tinted preferred. Should I just get patterns (where?) and run around to my local glass shops? THANKS!!! | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 4,886 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 4,886 | I used my old glass as patterns and let a local glass shop cut them. On the 37, it was easy to install so I did it my self. If yours is a big windshield you may want them to do it. I got front, 2 side, and rear for $110 plus change. They gave me the tape to set the side glass in. I found the three main stores in town were pretty close in price, two of them had patterns instock but only back to mid 40's. It pays to shop ! Front windshield glass was just a little bigger than my originals (1/4" all around). They went in but it was tough. Couldn't get my stainless trim back in as the slot was too tight. Make sure that the new glass is exactly the same as your original before you start. | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 71 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2001 Posts: 71 | I'm looking too. Jim Carter sells the patterns. I'm toying with the idea of getting the original bug numbers etched into each piece. Chevs of the 40's offers this option but quite pricey. Am also getting a quote from "american-restorations.com" which claims to offer the same thing. Would appreciate hearing from anyone else who has tried this. | | |
