I am in the midst of restoration and need to know if anyone has had success NOT removing the stake pockets but sanding off the rust and applying rust converter, then priming and painting. I am relatively new at this and want to know how much I can trust the rust converter to really work. Please let me know if you have had experience with this. The encapsulating paints seem to do much better. Por-15, Zerorust or Hammerite. With them you remove as much rust as possible, clean and paint, and they seal out the moisture.
