I am looking for a definitive answer to the following questions re. a 1946 1/2 ton
1. Dash braces: Hammer Tone Beige or body color?
2. Bed, Steal Runners: Black or body color?
3. Windshield Frame Inside: Hammer Tone Beige or Body Color?
4. Windshield Frame Inside Divider & "T" Brackets: Hammer Tone Beige or Body Color?

I have reference pictures of unrestored trucks if you need proof.

This is the steel runners that hold the bed boards in place.

Oh, sorry, The Dash braces . My truck is a GMC, it is possible it could be different. Everything inside my cab other than the Dash, trim pieces & steering column was Brewster Green from the factory. Im pretty sure the floor panel was Black

A major difference between the GMC and the Chevy is the interior firewall color. In Chevys, it was painted beige hammertone, but in GMCs, it was just painted body color.

I really need to get new software to add more details to my web page....... My page has been stalled for some time after my computer with the web page authoring software crashed. Just haven't invested the $ for new software. I have a lot of new resources to add. Maybe I'll looks into it.....

My interior firewall was body colour as well (GMC).

I have a 46 GMC and would like to know the original color of the floor panel that covers the tranny and the panel the accelerator pedal mounts to. Does anyone know if those were cab color or were they low gloss black or what?

I am surprised the windshield divider and t brackets were hammer tone on Chevys. Does anyone know if these parts on GMCs were painted body or interior color?

1946 GMC 1/2 ton long bed

Bringing back an old discussion - Regarding the interior paint of a 1946 Chevy truck cab. Besides working on my 1950 1 ton, I also have a 46 3/4 ton trying to make some progress on. I have a silly/dumb question, I know the paint was a hammered look (not sure of the color), but was the hammered effect used on the entire interior or maybe just the dash. It would make sense if it was the entire interior, but I don't know so hence the dumb question. Also, is there a close color available in a rattle can application. Not trying to be exact but close to what it originally looked like. The previous owner painted the whole interior black, so a lot of work ahead. Thanks in advance for any info.

If the Chevy big trucks were the same as the 1/2 ton models the brownish color hammer tone paint was used on:

The Valance above the windshield and the wiper motor covers.

All interior molding parts including, windows, those on the inside door frame, except for the dash trim pieces that mount on the dash.

The dash, ash tray, and glove box door.

The headliner trim and retainers and the kick panel retainers.

And the inside door panels and the sheet metal surrounding the rear window.
