I just received my new bushing from American Classic. I've read all the posts about installing it, but I don't see any place to start the wire. The old wire still comes out down the column. I've attached 2 pictures of what I have. The bearing wasn't on the truck when I bought it.

looks to me like the old bearing is still in place, otherwise there'd be a gap between the column and mast jacket .... compare to the new bearing and you should be able to see where to pry to get the old one up .... when you remove it the wire will pull up and out, attach a string to it so you have a way to 'fish' the new wire in

Tie off the end of the old wire with a twine then pull the old mast jacket bushing.

Use the twine to pull the new wire thru the mast jacket when you insert the new
bearing.

Does the upper bearing encase a ball bearing? In the photo you are seeing the top of a ball bearing.

I thought you said you just recieved your bearing from American Classic parts???
The bearing and horn contact is one assembly potted in rubber:
mast jacket bearing
Pop the old one out and press the new one in, thread the
wire back down thru the hole half way down and that's it,
no more complicated than that.

Dennny, here's some pictures that might show a little better. The flat area inside the column is the top of the ball bearing. Is there something else that needs to be removed? When I got the truck this is the way it came. It had a small steering wheel on it.

I did just get the mast bearing in the picture that you posted.

David, the flat area ["ball bearing"] you point out is the old part that your new part will replace, they're identical, need to remove it as shown in DG's pic, although you don't need to fabricate a special puller like he did, just get under the flange edge that sits atop the mast jacket with a stiff putty knife and work around gently tapping it up until you can get hold of it, pulls right out with the horn wire attached to the back of it
