Any halfway competent machinist should be able to do the same thing. Which direction does the Stude distributor turn? CCW rotation would need a Buick or Olds upper, CW would need a Chevy. Jerry

Nice to know if you're talking 289,or what? What year? Truck or car?? I contacted Dan,at "Swapmeet parts",and inquired about an HEI for a Studie V-8. He usually replies within 24 hours. When I receive his telephone number,I'll send you a P.M. Then you can talk to him directly. I bought my HEI,with a set of wires, for less than most want for the "Dizzy" itself, plus Free Shipping! The old 245 Stude flatheads,('48-'53), had Delco-Remy dizzy's. That's the thing with Studebaker,IHC,and American Motors...Starting in the late '50's, They used different parts,(especially electrical),depending on low bid that year. I had a '67 International pick-up,with a 304,and the distributor was Delco-Remy). it took a "Ferd' 302,(Motorcraft) distributor cap!! See what I mean?

You may be able to cross-reference your "Dizzy",to a compatible HEI unit. Check with your local F.L.A.P.S.,or follow previous suggestions, from H.R. L. My Pertronixs catalog shows Studebakers came with Delco, Autolite, or Prestolite distributors. If you contacted them with your distributor number I'd be surprised if they don't have a conversion for your unit. I made an HEI for my straight 8 Buick by using an Olds V8 that was turned down 0.060 where it fits into the block (length inside the block same as Buick dizzy) and replacing the Olds shaft with a longer Chevy shaft which was cut to length and had the oil pump drive tang milled on the end. We have a lap of the U.S. planned this summer in our old 1937 Special if gas stays down and the ONLY reason I chose HEI over Pertronix is we can stop at any parts store if needed.
