I'm restoring a 52 GMC 1/2 ton truck that appears to have had the entire drivetrain changed out sometime during it's life. It has a 235 engine, with a 4 speed transmission that has an ID of GM5 591568. It has a DANA 44 10 bolt rear end, but I can't seem to identify the axle. I found the numbers 9 5 7A3 and then 967A and 6029 stamped below that on the passenger side axel tube. I'm assuming these identify the axel but I can't seem to bring up these numbers in my searches. Can anyone help me with this? It differential appears to have a 3.73 gear ratio and it has positive traction.

Dana 44 is a Dana axle. 10 bolt axles are a GM product, many parts interchange.


'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

How many lugs doe the axle have? Very good chance it may not be a GM axle, perhaps from a Jeep or Isuzu.
