Too light duty for truck use. The only truck application was 4 cylinder 2wd S10s. Other than one odd use of it in a Caprice, it's pretty much a compact and mid size car transmission. The 700 is far better investment if you want an automatic.

If it's the early SM319 from either a Truck or '55-'57 Passenger, it's a direct bolt in, no alterations needed other than making sure the shift arms match and adding the lockout cable and wiring. If it's a later Saginaw based overdrive, they are slightly longer and will require a shorter driveshaft.
