I keep it outside and was wondering if there was a product I could use to retard the rust this winter. I'm not ready to paint it yet. My only real problem is floorboard rust and when I tackle that I'll work on the body. If you will go to the "articles" page at www.zerorust.com you will find an article we did for the ol' Stovebolt web site several years ago that discusses Zero Rust and how it's being used by the DIYers in the restoration arena. I'm sure others will be along directly with recommendations as there is no shortage of rust control products in the Naked City. Oh yeh, we do have 2 different yellows FWTW. Cheers......... And I have a 51 chevy so I stoped and refocused my eforts on the 51. It's coverd with 2 coats of DP 40 sealer primer from Ditzler. Good stuff and it's ment to be a base coat for painting over as zero rust in my opinion isn't a good base and I would sand it off before painting over it.O.K. I can't get the picture on here, But you really don't want to see a f000 any way. O. THey were working on a 38 (?) Chevy street Rod and wanted to provide corrosion protection for the car as it was in a semi-finished state and must sit outside when not being worked on. They installed an electronic corrosion stopper - ( http://www.counteractrust.com/) I've never used this product and don't know the cost - but the theory makes sense to me - using this would mean that you would not have to apply any paint type product that you would not have to sand off when time came to seriously apply finish coat. - electronic rust preventor | | | | | Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 264 Member | | Member Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 264 | I think an epoxy-based primer will provide adequate protection as it tends to be non-porous. | | |
