Hi, My chevy 51 coe has an updraft carburetor. Will exhaust headers interfere with the carburetor ? I can make a plate and run a tube for gasoline heat. Will it fit or/and will it be to close,to much heat?
I was considering maybe a little more power. Not sure how much more. I do not think they will fit after looking at it again unless i extend the intake tubes by 4-6 inches +/- . If I go to far out, Ill hit the frame rail. The brake mc is there but i may change the setup and mount it on the firewall.
You will be doing a massive amount of modification for virtually no benefit. Increase the diameter of the exhaust pipe by 1/4" and install a low back pressure muffler like a glasspack or a steelpack, and you will get as much benefit, or more than the gain headers will accomplish. Most split manifold setups are just for visual effect, something that isn't going to be obvious with a COE Jerry

I got more power, and increased fuel economy, after installing my "Fentons". I like the way it makes the 261 sound, too. you may be able to find someone,(that can weld cast iron),to install a baffle, and a second outlet in your existing manifold. Welding cast iron isn't bad at all. Three important things...
1. Use the right rod 2. Pre heat 3. Slow down cooling. I use a bin of oil dry. As soon as the part is welded I bury it in the oil dry and pull it out a couple of hours or more.
