In starting to work on my brakes on this big ol truck I ran into an issue right off. The nut on top of the mc has been stripped pretty bad and its impossible to get a wrench or socket on from the top. The floorboard hole is too small to get anything thru onto the nut. From underneath I can't get anything on it either suffiecent to get enough torque to bust it loose. Is my only option to remove a cable that's in my way, or either remove the whole mc itself ? It doesnt look easy whichever path I take frown

Thanks

Hy Red63, I know you're not going to like reading this, but I would bite the bullet and remove the master cylinder from the truck. It is much easier to do everything with it clamped in a vice, good luck with it!

Yeh, it's probably going to need rebuilt anyways, might as well make it easy. Soak all the bolts and tube nut with PB Blaster or Croil or some type of penetrant overnight. Hopefully your tubing won't twist off. Good luck. Jim

Mine does that to me every Spring. I use a pair of vice grips,(to clamp on the cover),then a pair of channel locks,to turn the vice grips. Hope this helps.

Wow, thanks for the suggestions fellas... My truck is the HC 453 3 ton. Its a retired military truck, but its last career was farming. Now, it's just a fun project-truck and sometimes pain in the neck too smile
