Some where in this forum I read that the truck beds for a 66 step-side short bed date back further then 64 and it goes back to the late 50's. Does anyone know the year that they are the same. A guy has the bed from a 56 for sell and I need a tailgate.

Thanks

Check the bed forum. I asked the same question recently and mar k turned me on to their website with much reference material. Double check. The hole line up on angle braces and supports differ some.

The beds were basically the same from '55 2nd-'87, with '54 and '55 1rst being very similar. Tailgates and front bed panels are the same '54-'87.

mar-K

Look under installation info.

GMC Pauls

look under : 47-72 bed wood info.

If you have more specific questions, ask the folks in the Making a Stovebolt bed forum. The people that have really taken their trucks apart, pass by there from time to time.

Also, Mar-K has a tech that answers questions in there.

Good luck,

-W

The fenders changed in '67 and again in '73.
