Well folks I am of the old school of oxy/ace welding and brazing school. I never needed a skinkin mig welder!! Ha I finally thought I would buy me a little miller for $200 Bucks and decided if I didnt like it I wouldnt be out much.I also hate bondo with a passion and have stated so numerous times on here. Well I recently found another 54 and the rear bed panel looked better then the one I had, so I wired brushed it found a couple of rusted through places and said huh let me test this mig on this. so after removing the rusted area, I wound up with a 4" long by 2" wide hole. I started circling the outside on low temp and slow speed filling in the hole. 30 minutes later filled in ground down and spot putty covering for smothing. Ok I am sold on the new way of life. No laughin you old timers

I'm in the market for one now. Have been using one in a tech school welding class and I'm sold. Miller s'posed to be a good brand I hear.

Oh yea, you must not be doing something right if any form of welding is as good as an orgasm. That's what I originally meant to post.

Ok, when you say slow filling the hole, did you weld a patch into the bed. I'm starting tearing off my fenders this spring, and they need a little work! Now, I like metal, although the old man swears by angel hair filler. Is there a book around that will show me beginning welds with a small mig welder?

Thanks for the info, I cut my driving (operating) teeth on a deere crawler that my dad had. We used to hook it up behind a 3800 Panel (the one that I now own), and make a little spending cash on the weekends!
