The speedometer drive gear is pressed onto the u-joint yoke/flange that attaches to the transmission.

I'm curious - what leads you to ask? I haven't ever heard of this gear needing to be replaced. Is your speedo sloppy or not working?

- change in rear end ratio (Bruce Bugay sold me a set to match the 3.55 R&P conversion)
- new or replacement u-joint assembly with no drive gear
Other possible reasons:
- worn teeth on old drive gear?
- drive gear for different rear-end ratio (replacement transmission from a bigger/smaller truck)
