A friend of mine who has been using the same helmets for as long as I have recommended one of the Jackson Nexgen. Last week when Zoro had their 30% off day, I bought one of these. http://www.zoro.com/i/G4019687/I am amazed by it. Welding light materials depends on what you do right after you strike the arc. Otherwise you burn a hole. I am amazed with the new helmet. being extravagant when I blew $250 on my Miller Elete helmet
a few years ago.
Used the old dump helmets up till I sprung for that Miller and
still can't get out of the habit of nodding my head with my
new 'lectronic sun shade. Some habits are just to hard to break.

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 434 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 434 | I spent about 400 on an Optrel Satelite nice hood unail the battery died and they wanted about 75 percent of purchase price for a new lens piece integrated with the battery.
Bought a cheap Northern Tools which is ok but the head gear was cheap and uncomfortable. Now have a Save Phace which is a decent compromise between cost and function at less than 200 if I recall correctly. If I welded for a living a comfortable 400 dollar hood would be more than worth it.
Hard to tell much difference in the lens darkening mechanisms between the ones I have used and I suspeCT it is duplicate integrated chip circuits that results in close to the same working mechanism.

when the battery died just went down to batteries plus and got a new one, well actually got 2 one to use and a spare.
that big window is much easier to see out of then the
cheapie HF one that bought first.
doing body or frame work and well a good helmet will prove worth the cost.

WOW did that ever change things for me. Once you get over the amazement of the way these new solar units work, check out the magnifiers. Just keeps getting better!
