Garland & twinkle lights on the bed rails, a lighted tree hanging out the back end, & an inflatable Santa behind the wheel waiving out the window. Now to wrap about a dozen boxes as gifts & stacked in the bed box.

Any pair of buckets on the lot was $65 for a pair. I found a pair power bucket seats w/built in seat belts out of a mid 2000's Chry Sebring that doesn't need recovering & was the color & pattern I like....joe

Unfortunately, I only got to do some of the blasting/cleaning and am hiring a good shop to do the paint prep work & primer. I just don't have a spot set up to do some things. The hood & fenders bare & then in epoxy. Bittersweet feeling not doing these parts myself- but the shop's doing a phenomenal job! And EVERYBODY notices the hood... Yesterday for my maiden voyage, I drove my '59 around the block twice... no exhaust! I have my '59 license plates installed, my registration sticker on the windshield, proof of insurance in the glove box and I'm ready to drive it to a muffler shop today when I get off work! Afterwards, inspection sticker! Jerry

Headlights: Taken buckets apart, cleaned, shined chrome clamps, new aimers, original T3s. Rebuilt the crudded-up headlight switch. Directionals: Added back an original loud metallic sounding turn signal relay, new cork gaskets, bulbs and clear lenses. Fogs Re-wired fog lights with a proper relay, took the housings apart, cleaned them up. Added in a fog light switch and made an stock looking light-up knob. Brakelights: Took housings apart, cleaned, replaced bulbs, gaskets and pigtails. Sometimes old parts in decent shape are hard to find. After a long search was finally success. I always liked these hubcaps and tail lights and thought they would complement my original ornamentation really well. The tail lights were partially damaged so I was able to save this set from scrap. These hubcaps have been on there for a little while. I finally was able to shine them up the way they were meant to be. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m127/59apache/Hubcap_zps4e8a90be.jpgI polished and trimmed a partially damaged set of these and adapted two wire tail lights: http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m127/59apache/Taillight_zps15472646.jpgStill working out some electrical gremlins | | | | Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 78 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 78 | On the Good Humor 52 truck,I`m rebuilding the 1955 rear axle.I am changing the backing plate, because it has the prong type for the cable.I found a 1955 Olds still has the two mounting bolts on its plate.I can still use the stock cables. Also installing new bushing sleeves on the rear leaf springs.I did ask inline tube if they would customize the cable and put the prong on the 52 cable, they said they couldn't do it. http://i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s554/icecreamman55/003_zpsc76fffa9.jpg[/IMG] | | | | Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 623 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 623 | The man in the brown box showed up today and brought me a few things from Classic Parts. I got my new defroster hose (Yay!), and that puppy is in. Also put in the new vacuum hose grommet. Amazing how tiny little things can make a guy happy. Also received my new windshield rubber. Didn't get it in, but it sure needs it. Also, got a bad surprise when I found out the new dual dash speakers made to fit the '51 (that I've been waiting for so I can stop wearing my ipod buds,) don't fit the radio in the truck. In other words, somebody did a very nice job of reworking the dash so they could fit the present stereo with 5 1/2" centered knobs. I'd never thought about the possibility that the very nice looking dash wasn't original knock outs. Looked behind it and, yep, there's fiberglass patches where there should be AD radio holes. Oh, well. I couldn't afford to get that $500 original style radio for a while, anyway. And at least I've still got a few old cassettes around somewhere. Ozark Mountain Daredevils, anyone?

The wiper motor has a stripped out clutch head screw and the button to release the headlight switch knob will press in fully, but won't release the knob. It's the little things that seem to be the worst pain sometimes. LOL I ran out of time, so I'll deal with those later.
I also removed the passenger side half of the windshield and just as I suspected, there is about an inch long area of rust through at the lower outside of the window channel.

We knocked out the forward bushing/seal by hammering on a metal water pipe from the rear-end side of the tube. Sorry, I do not remember the diameter of the pipe.

I got a used key lock cylinder with the rod that my truck was missing from Oldblue48 (thanks again!). I swapped the little rod over to my truck's key lock cylinder. I ended up taking out the whole door lock/latch assembly, cleaning it, re-greasing it, and reinstalling it. The door that used to have to be shut pretty hard (almost slammed) to latch securely now operates like new, and the lock works using the key. I'm pretty pleased with how it worked out, and am planning on doing the same cleaning/re-greasing on the driver's side one of these days. | | | | Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 19 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 19 | Yeh, That's what I am working on. Trying to get the right diameter to get by the bushing stop and still hit the bushing to drive it out. I think I will slightly heat the tube to help. Thanks jim Jim,

Sunday it was the doors and cab interior, guages, switches and trim. Monday night it was the deluxe cab trim and mirrors. Tuesday I pressure washed the engine and cab, and cut the bed strips off. I've been derusting nuts and bolts'n stuff in vinegar. | | |
