I have a 3 speed OD that I would like to use with this engine in my 66 half ton. The 3sp OD was on a 265, the 265 bellhousing bolts up okay to the 350. The trouble is the starters, the old one is 3 bolt and the one that was on the 350 is 2 bolts. What direction do I need to go to fix this problem ? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 28 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 28 | I did a similar swap. What I used was the 3 bolt starter, just had to grind a bit off the top ear to clear the 2 bolt mount on the block.

The bellhousing, flywheel, and 3 bolt starter will all bolt up. Make sure you have the truck bellhousing, however. A car bellhousing will not match up with the mount positions on the crossmember.
