what holds the motor to the front mount on a 216 motor, I have the carriage bolts mounted to the frame, but the 2 bolts that go thru the front mount and thru the frame have to go thru 2 big holes, is there a piece missing or do I use big washers?

This Tech Tip has some very good pictures and information. It is for the 235, but, the 216 has the same mount.

The 2 "inner" bolts hold the mount to the plate on the engine. The 2 outer bolts hold the mount and engine to the cross member. The 2 outer bolts fit into the holes shown in Pic 1 shown above. The bigger holes let the bolts and nuts holding the mount to the plate clear the cross member. If that helps.

I took the liberty of quoting directly from the Tech Tip. Thanks Don Mclendon. "Check to make sure the 7/16" thru-bolts are centered in the large opening in the cross member. If they aren't, and they make contact with the edge of the hole, you'll get vibrations."
