Made it to Virginia! Went home first though as planned. In that time I took a week and put Dana 60s on the front and rear.

I don't really like some of it, mainly how some stuff got mounted. Didn't take enough pictures and of course the stuff I didn't like I didn't think about taking pictures of but oh well.

Twisted the drive line though while moving it with all my tools on the back and I'm pretty sure I have figured out why that happened.

Go ahead and check out My Quick Project

BTW the aluminium wheels on it right now are NOT staying. I have all the goodies to put 22.5s on.

I still need to do a bigger write up and I'm sure peggy will remind me once she sees that I'm posting this!

The only thing that was hard was the gear box, I wish i have pictures of it. I used the box from a 2000 dodge 2500. I put two u-joints in the steering column so it runs along the frame from where the original box would be and comes through the radiator support in between the frame and radiator. For the box mount i cut out the part of the frame on the dodge that it bolted to. That is welded to the frame so the bolts end up being above the frame and inside and in front of the radiator. Dodge trucks had a steering stabilizer that you could get for it that was a long hex haft turned down so part of it was round and then that would go in a bearing which bolted to a piece of 3x3 box tubing and i did the same on the chevy. The dodge also had a flipped pitman arm since it had a 6 inch lift, which was in my favor. It works just fine but it isn't the prettiest. Fir the housing I cut a foot out of the long side which ended up being the center axle disconnect just of because of how much tubing was there and what parts were inside of a little forged housing. So I'll get a shaft made for the passenger side and then get a set of hub lockers to replace the center axle disconnect which is gone. Sleeved it and welded it with 7018 rod. Welded on spring perches and bolted it up using the ubolts that were on the rear of the dodge. Took me 2 days, but I have been planning and doing this for the last year. An axle without the center axle disconnect would have been ideal, cut of the knuckle and chop the tube and weld the knuckle back on. It would be a lot easier that way but thats what i had and it'll be plenty strong enough.

Looks GREAT!! Did you use the engine/transmission/transfer case, out of the "Dog",as well? If so,318,or Cummins? That set-up would make a GREAT car hauler! Reminds me of this truck:
Difference is,Steve Darnell & Co. used the "Dog" frame as well. I like your idea,of utilizing the orig. frame. More info,/pic's,PLEASE! Thanks for Sharing!!

I still have the original engine and transmission in the chevy and in my opinion the frame is better than whats available nowadays unless i made one, and even then it would end up the same. I'm going to do a divorced transfer case like the military trucks had but something like a np205. I'm going to get a 6bt cummins for it and a fuller transmission, another reason to go to a divorced case. I have seen that video though, all of them actually. I really like his bed on that truck, not quite my speed for my truck but still cool.

I wish I had taken a lot more pictures but I didn't! What I posted in the link is what I have. I might be able to convince my mom or dad to take more pictures of particular things if someone has a specific request.
