Working on my 1950 3800 with the swapped-in 1959 235 motor with original carb (she used to have a 216). The spring that provides tension to the accelerator pedal appears to hook to the lip of the oil pan beneath it.

Is there a little tang/tab for properly attaching that spring to the oil pan?

Maybe something that uses one of the oil pan bolts to hold it in place? I don't recall seeing anything when I took the old motor out but after 60 years who knows what had been done to the old gal.

Thx - Bruce

Use this tab attached by a pan bolt as you surmised.
