Howdy - next somewhat ridiculous question from Bruce....

The interior windshield trim on my 1950 3800 has two little clips, or retaining wires, on the underside of the trim (along with a couple of little foam pads that are glued in). The clips were on either side of the defroster vent opening. Any idea what those little clips do? They didn't appear to be attached to anything when I took the trim off. Any trim clip experts out there?

As I recall, there are small clips that hold the vent (funnel shaped piece that connects to the vent duct) up against the vent opening in the dash. Perhaps that is what you are referring to. There are two on each side.

The clips are to keep the vent slits from collapsing if things are jammed against the dash. The small foam pads I believe are anti-squeak in nature.

Ah! So the clips should probably be positioned within the vent slit, spaced proportionally across the slit. That makes sense. I couldn't see any way that they would attach to the vent itself.

Thanks Brad and Kent!
