For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 3 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 3 | I HAVE A 52 HALF TON PICKUP. WONDERING IF A GRILL FROM A 1 TON, 1 1/2 TON, OR A 2 TON WILL WORK. I WAS TOLD THAT THE GRILLS ON THE LARGER TRUCKS ARE JUST TALLER BUT THE BARS ARE THE SAME SIZE AND CAN BE PUT ON THE FRAME OF A HALF TON GRILL. IS THIS TRUE OR IS IT NOT. ANY INFO WILL HELP?? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 13 Member | | Member Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 13 | 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton grills are interchangeable. The larger trucks' grills will not fit properly. The cabs and hoods are the same, with the exception of COE. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 197 Member | | Member Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 197 | Juggman you are correct. I used the horizontal grill bars from a big truck and the vertical bars from the stock grill to end up with a good grill. The big trucks have more substantial bumpers and protection from mishaps. The hoods on the larger trucks (I think 1.5 ton and up) are longer as well as the fenders and hood latch panel.

The 1 1/2 ton & up grill bars are the same width as the 1/2 ton but, they are 1/2 " taller. The top bar on these larger trucks wont fit the contour of the smaller hoods, I use a 1/2 ton top bar here. Although it is 1/2" shorter than the other bars , you cant tell the difference because the parking lights are under it . 1/2 to 1 ton fenders, hoods & grills are identical. 1 1/2 ton & up fenders, hoods & grills are larger. Cabs are identical on all conventional models. Cabs were only different when you jumped up to the COE models | | |
