The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline Fabricating brake cables

My 51 3100 Frankenkenbolt has no parking brakes. The rear end is at my best guess out of something with 4:11 gears made around 1966. I have the hardware for both sides to make it work.The rest of the system from the floor pedal back to both clevises(?)is all there. All I lack is cables to thread into the clevis and clip into the backing plate and attach to the hardware on the brake shoes. I came to the conclusion that there is no cable that will fit this setup,so I need to build some.
What I'm looking for is guidance or information on building cables.I really don't want to hook this up with cable clamps. I want to build something that looks cleaner than that.----Jack

Get the correct cables for the rear you have. You can purchase short cables that thread into the clevis and use a GM cable connector shaped like a C.

The short cable can be made by controlcables.com or they can make you a complete cable
