Looked under the hood, and can't see a way to remove it, so how did it get chromed | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,548 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,548 | It will be small twist prongs, holding it onto the hood halves. | | | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | I think it is probably stainless steel instead of Chrome but I have been wrong once before or maybe not. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 399 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 399 | Right on...I stripped it and it is stainless..gotta a few pits, but not that bad..Is the trim around the door windows stainless also? Took a few coats of paint off of it yesterday, and saw some shine underneath | | | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | I would venture to say the window trim is also stainless. Nice stuff if you can restore it to good condition. Just use a buffing wheel to help bring out the shine but be careful not to twist the item you are buffing. Take it slow and careful. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 399 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 399 | Thanks, it's got those little wind deflectors above the vent window too...sent Peg some pics and she is gonna try to get them on here this week | | | | | Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 1,571 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 1,571 | The little teardrop-shaped wind deflectors were standard. Every door I have has them. However, AutoVentshade made (and still makes) stainless visors that go above the window glass.
I'm not sure if the stainless center strip was ever offered by the factory. It is commonly available in the aftermarket, though. | | |
