Add me to the list. And perhaps Accacia. (Cosmo, you could ask her to come and explain how and why she may enjoy it, I've tried.)

Yes I was wondering about the weather too! I have only driven this old machine a few times since I got it together but I'm not ready to take it out in the rain! I even heard it could snow up there at the brewery!!

The elephant has entered the room. Major low pressure systems (2) joining in our areas starting Friday extending to Sat. PM. Batten down the hatches, close all water tight doors, secure all flight ops, rig for heavy weather and heavy seas. The good news is that the bloody mary juice is mixed and the local pub serves db lager from the tab. While prepped to go either way, the WX may impact all current plans.

Seems those that drive their old truck rain or shine are all set, and those that are afraid of rain can drive a newer vehicle.

May as well keep the schedule,

As Lucky Ned said, "That's bold talk for a two-eyed thin man!" -- especially one who only has about a hour drive in a comfy modern German car to get there ... wink

Farm chores were already tugging at me, but this pushes me over the edge. Sorry, love you guys like brothers but 6 hours on the road ... In rain... with 6 volts and vacuum wipers ... I'll pass.

For those of you closer, have a great time and I wish the weather could have cooperated.
smile

You do have me there, I'll be driving a modern car. But I'd love to drive one of my old trucks and in the past have done a fair amount of it in the rain... it builds character.

Holy smokes, with a poem like that I feel obligated to run the GreenMachine rain or shine. Unless flaky white stuff comes, I'll come in the other truck.

They are opening the brewery 30 minutes early just for us. I plan to get there by 10:30ish. Therefore the Fredericksburg convoy will need to depart with SOMD crew from here by 7:30. Will that work for the SOMD Chapter? We can meet at the same HD as last year on Rt. 3.

What say YE??

Hate to say it but with no wipers on my truck yet I may have to bag it for this run. Maybe next time. I gotta get me some wipers, or a short person to sit on the hood and wipe for me.Larry

Respectfully yours,

Last year I did doughnuts in the Sam's club parking lot, kind of foolish as we ended up with a 6" snowfall by the time I made it home. I do have electric wipers and I completely understand reluctance to travel with or w/o old iron. Those of us there will just have to make an extra toast to the brothers that wanted to be there.

Larry, my wipers don't work. But these old truck windshields are so verticle I just apply rainex and it does a great job of blowing the rain off as long as your moving.

To all the folks who can't make it for whatever reason I totally understand and hope to see you all soon. And yes we"ll raise a glass to all who are missing, and only in the fondest of memory.

What is the time frame of events for Saturday. I know and agree that it is always 5 o'clock somewhere but I am curious about the timing of the convoy journey out of MD. to Fredericksburg and beyond? Larry, let me know your plans as far as arriving at Dukes and heading up route 250?

I just went back a page and got my eyes on all the plans so I'm going to stare at the skies ( and radar) Saturday morning and make my decision about what to drive. I'm only 25 miles east of Charlottesville so the cool old truck may sneak on up to the hills. I had so many bugs to work out of this truck in the last 2 months that I have yet to even turn on the all new electric wipers. Just couldn't bare to take the chance and find another item that might need more attention. I just recently covered the window with rain x and decided wipers are not an issue!

Forecast is looking better. Only 30 percent chance on showers on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing some different faces and vintage iron.

OK. I just tried out my heater this morning and I'm in. I built this truck to drive so here goes. I may bring one of my kids to keep me company.

Hardshell, I'm an early bird so the earlier the better. I'll call you this afternoon. If we meet at about 8 or 8:30 that should give us plenty of time to get into the Cville area at a reasonable time.Larry

Does not sound like anyone is driving by Lexington on the way.

I am meeting with SWEET at his place around 0645. We'll meet the SoMD contingent at the Home Depot around 0730 and roll out. Same path as last year. Stopping briefly at the [now] John Deere dealership in Orange prior to the last leg.

Looking forward to this trip all year. Not going to let a little rain keep me down!

See you in the morning.

And thanks, SWEET.
