On the heritage site it shows the E brake as optional. So I was wondering if there are any pics or descriptions of the e-brake so I can start putting it together. Any detail is mucho appreciated.
Thanks! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | a hand brake was not "optional", there were 2 different setups - if it's a light truck with a 3 speed it had a lever under the left side of the dash for cable operation of the rear brakes - med & heavy trucks with the 4 speed had a driveshaft brake with a lever next to the shifter thru the floor either e-brake arrangement isn't simple, there are a range of pieces, and if you don't have any of either version your best bet is to get the 55-59 assembly manual so you know what you're looking for, or find a nearby truck of the same model [55-59, 1/2, 3/4, 1T] to borrow parts from .... there's also some helpful pics in the shop manual, which can be found hereBill | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 Sir Searchalot | | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 | The Heritage info does not state a RPO for Ebrake but shows it on PP 117 as standard. Rods and cables or on-drum, depending on model as Bill states.
Once you see how it is all mounted, you will probably discover some provisions for it on your truck if you have a stock frame. Some are riveted on and are unlikely to have been removed. You can also acquire the parts from time to time on Ebay. Don't see a pic of truck in your signature.

Great pictures! Excellent effort indeed, not skiving. They are parking brakes. Can be used in an emergency, while driving, if the hydraulics fail.
