I'm guessing I removed the parts in the wrong order and now its stuck. If I bend it up I'll be more [censored] than I already am. As for the top cowl vent...I'm not there yet....any suggestions before I screw that up?

An assembly manual comes in handy and there are the online manuals you can check out. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/ | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,301 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,301 | I have not found anything in print which guides you, step-by-step how to remove/install this vent. Those early side vents are spring loaded and are a challenge to take off and put on. My suggestion is to take it off and put it on repeatedly until you are a master at it before you prime the cab so that you can do it with your eyes shut once you have everything painted. Carl

I have removed two. However both were removed from cowl panels that were removed from the cab, so there was less interference behind.
One will be accessible with the vent open. The second may require developing some sort of custom tool. I had considered using a screwdriver bit on a 1/4" ratchet with a long handle.
Once the screws are out, just wiggle and jiggle until they come apart and out.
Of course, its a flathead, going to be rusty, and stuck. So best of luck, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,301 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,301 | There are flat bladed screwdrivers that are Z-shaped, for just such predicaments. One blade is oriented 90 degrees from the other making it possible to work by switching ends every half turn. Carl
