I have replacement brake slave cylinders for all 4 wheels on my '69 C-10. I checked my reproduction factory service manual and my Haynes manual for the topic but found nothing in either. So I'm gonna chip away at the built-up dirt and grease on the wheel and hoping for obvious bolt heads for the cylinder.

Aside from draining and refilling/bleeding brake fluid and reinstalling brake shoes and drums, does anyone have any advice or tips for removing and reinstalling the cylinder itself? Is it simple?

Get a good set of flare nut wrenches and a bleeder screw wrench of the appropriate size. Those will make life much easier for you as well as preventing any damage to the lines/bleeders when you do the service.

It is a simple job. Like Box says use a good tubeing wrench. There are 2 bolts holding them on. One bolt on the front is hard to get at because the hose fitting goes by close to it. You don't need to remove the shoes. Remove the return springs & spread them out a little.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
