After doing a search on the forum and not finding a conclusive answer, here's the question for my 1948 3100 standard cab: What would be the correct wheel color (body color or black), and should the wheels have pinstripes? Thanks, Charlie

Standard color in 1948 was Forester Green.

Conventional truck wheels were Forester Green.

There were stripes on 16" rims (Cream Medium on Forester Green wheels)
There were no stripes on 15" rims

My truck appears to be Windsor Blue. Would the wheels be this color as well as striped (16")?

Tim is that spec sheet from one of K.Hardy's list or have you scoured that up for your library?

Drew,

I made a web page with information that is commonly requested regarding 1936-1962 Chevrolet USA trucks .

As noted on my webpage, I took that information from the GM Heritage Center (as did Keith Hardy).

From looking at the chart it appears to me the regular standard color would have been black with no stripes. The other colors and stripes are under the RPO (regular production options).

I agree with Mike.

It looks like standard wheels on all trucks except Suburbans were black. There was a Fathom Green wheel RPO for 16" wheels on Fathom Green trucks.

Okay, so it sounds like black wheels w/o stripes, correct?

It can either be black with no stripe or the Windsor Blue with stripes. RPO simply means the original purchaser could pay whatever that option cost and get wheels that matched the body color with pin stripes from the factory or he could have gone with the standard black wheels with no stripes.
