I am thinking about a chevy small block V8 and TH700R4 transmission for my 53 Chevy 3100.

What rear ends are recommended for this truck?

Gear ratio and also track width.

Please forgive if I am not asking this question correctly. I'm fairly familiar with motors and transmissions, but when it comes to the driveline and rear ends, I've never had the opportunity to work on or swap one.

Thank You
Tim

Hy lynngrove, you could pull the torque tube setup out of the original housing and replace it with the differential from a 55B through 62 1/2 ton truck, you will have to have some saddles made and welded to the original housing to keep the housing in proper alignment, but the differential itself is a bolt in swap and should be able to handle anything except drag racing all the time, hope that helps.
