Hey guys,

I have a 49 3100 that I put a sb into and went with the aluminum 4 core radiator with stock locations for upper and lower hoses.

My question is if anyone makes, or knows what model etc hoses will fit? Or do I just go the auto store and look at all 1 million hoses they have hanging up??? I wanted to stay away from the universal hoses, especially for the lower because of the pressure it is under.

Thank you for any of your help!

Adam

Hmmm.... I put a sbc in a 50 model chevy and seems I looked at hoses for around a 60 model Chevy with a 283. Might get you a starting point, or maybe some else can answer better for you.

For the top hose I simply measured with a ruler to see the length I needed and then took off to the parts house. I purchased a flexible hose for the top. I don't remember the I.D. but they are common size's.
However the bottom hose is a little more cantankerous depending on how close your set up is. Again, you will have to use a flex hose.... OR measure the length, and size or inlet/outlet, and head to the parts house looking for a hose with the correct bend and then cut what you need and throw the rest away. Be sure to record the numbers somewhere for future reference.

....I had to cut a hose into to get what I needed for my bottom hose and it was bent to much to suit me so I happened to have an old hose with the spring in it which I took out and poked it down in the new hose so it would not get hot and collapse.

You can do it. Just take your time.
Another note, on the top intake "goose neck" where the thermostat goes you may want to use a goose neck that sticks straight up or points to the radiator at a 45 degree angle. Using one that points to the side may put an unnecessary bend in the hose you use. Good luck.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
